THIS BOOK IS COOL! (Book distribution at schools)

The excitement of summer reading is in the air at over 150 school locations across our region. As summed up by the Sea Breeze Elementary School Reading Coach, “They (the students who had registered for THIS BOOK IS COOL!) were very excited to receive such a big bag. They couldn’t believe that it was all for them!” For many of these children, these are the only books in their homes, and now they have TWENTY!

“I can’t begin to tell you how excited our students were to get so many wonderful books! As the school’s librarian, I was especially impressed by the quality of the titles that you included in each bag,” said the Media Specialist at H.S. Moody Elementary School.

As the SCGLR team prepped and delivered books to more than 150 school locations over the past eight days, words of appreciation have flowed in — words about the quality of the books, the excitement of summer reading, the fostering of a love of learning over the summer, and providing books to children who would have none.

An office manager at a local private school relayed, “I saw that several of our students received your incredible books and were so excited! I would love to sign up my own two children to the program so they can be a part of your amazing program.”

With 2,770 colorful bags containing 55,400 books delivered to schools and almost 1,110 children scheduled for pickup events, many smiles were generated. But even more important is the learning that will continue over the summer and the love of reading that will be nurtured!
