Suncoast Remake Learning Days: Sharing on Many Levels

Beth Duda, director of the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading

On April 29th, Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (SCGLR) Engagement Team members were excitedly poised at The POINT, the support facility for Suncoast Remake Learning Days (SRLD) and other initiatives of The Patterson Foundation. Why the excitement? The Suncoast Remake Learning Days Event Guides were going to be delivered. 15,000 of them!

Two Distribution Events were set up at The POINT, and another at DeSoto Library so many of the 277 community partners hosting events could pick up a supply of the event guides to promote their events, yard signs to inform people about the SRLD app, logoed car sunshades, and logoed fans.

The SCGLR Engagement Team had the joy of greeting the event hosts, helping them load their cars, sharing some tasty treats, and touring them through The POINT. Melissa Hirstein shared, “The best part was the smiles and joy we received in return, even from those whose GPS took them on a scavenger hunt to find The POINT. It’s kind of like a game of Where is Waldo! All of our SRLD hosts were happy with the supplies and excited for their upcoming events.”

The distribution event for DeSoto County was set up in the parking lot of the DeSoto County Library. With more than 80 events happening in DeSoto over the 15-day festival, many organizations were grateful for the opportunity to pick up their supplies locally. The event guides were such a big hit we had to deliver 14 more cases just a few days later.

Suncoast Remake Learning Days will take place Saturday, April 20th – Saturday, May 4th, with more than 300 free family-friendly events happening throughout a four-county region. For more information, visit SuncoastRemakeLearningDays.org or download the SRLD2024 app on mobile.
