On November 21, 2024, the Grove Ballroom came alive with warmth and collaboration as Suncoast Remake Learning Days, supported by The Patterson Foundation, hosted a special Friendsgiving event! You can share in the joy by watching the short video below created by producer Bill Wagy.
More than 150 prospective and returning hosts and partners gathered to connect, share ideas, and plan for the upcoming 2025 15-day learning festival (April 19 – May 3, 2025). Highlights included:
Beth Duda, Director of the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, kicked off the event with insights about Suncoast Remake Learning Days and The Patterson Foundation’s support.
Eric Van Baars of the Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation energized the room with a “Dancing through the Decades” warm-up!
Shannon Live, owner of Bat City Comics, demonstrated how to make literacy fun with comic books.
Jessica DiLorenzo McHugh from Wholehearted Education led a mindful gratitude session.
Laurie Miller, Community Outreach Engager with The Patterson Foundation, organized an engaging scavenger hunt that had the room buzzing while individuals were fostering conversations and connections.
Community Engagers helped participants express gratitude through Gratitude Trees.
Community Engagers also shared valuable resources at information stations located around the perimeter of the ballroom. This Friendsgiving was filled with joy, friendship, and inspiration—we can’t wait to see the incredible collaborations emerge!
