Suncoast Remake Learning Days 2024 Sets Record for Participation

The Patterson Foundation

In just its third iteration, Suncoast Remake Learning Days 2024 (SRLD 2024) set a new mark for participation, drawing more than 36,500 Suncoast residents to one of its 304 events. Compare this to the inaugural year, which had 10,000 participants in 2022, and the 2023 festival, which drew 25,000. Because of its growing popularity, SRLD 2024 was expanded from 10 to 15 days this year to include a third Saturday, allowing for more events and giving kids and families from Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee, and Sarasota additional time to participate.

The free, interactive, and appropriate-for-all-ages events were conceived and produced by 277 community organizations. The passion exhibited by these community partners and the enthusiastic participation of community members embracing the concept of shared learning propelled the Suncoast festival. The number of host organizations producing events in 2024 makes the Suncoast one of the fastest-growing Remake Learning Days festivals in the world.

The inspiration behind Suncoast Remake Learning Days is a mounting body of research indicating that shared community exploration and learning improves students’ academic performance and social skills, exposing them to a world of opportunities, interests, and life-changing experiences. Strengthened by guidance and resources from The Patterson Foundation, each of the partners spent months conceptualizing and creating interactive learning opportunities that shared their unique assets.

Beth Duda, Director of the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading and Suncoast Remake Learning Days for The Patterson Foundation, is deeply appreciative of the collaboration with community partners that made SRLD 2024 a success: “On behalf of the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading and The Patterson Foundation, we are grateful to the Suncoast passionaries who presented hands-on learning experiences for joyfully inquisitive kids and their families in Charlotte, Desoto, Manatee, and Sarasota counties. It has been tremendously exciting to witness ideas manifest to reality and very satisfying to watch the families in our region respond with great enthusiasm to the festival events.”
