One of the most enjoyable parts of my job with The Patterson Foundation, and there are many, is the opportunity to connect with people throughout our region. That call to connect is the first sentence you’ll see when you visit the “About the Foundation” page on The Patterson Foundation’s website:
The Patterson Foundation strengthens the efforts of people, organizations, and communities by focusing on issues that address common aspirations, foster wide participation, and encourage learning and sharing.
Fostering wide participation means connecting with people, all kinds of people, in all kinds of ways. The When You Wonder, You’re Learning Book Circle Project is a way you can connect with us and with others right now.
We welcome you to be a part of this exciting project featuring the book, When You Wonder, You’re Learning – Mister Rogers’ Enduring Lessons for Raising Creative, Curious, Caring Kids by Gregg Behr & Ryan Rydzewski. This book reminds us of the genius of Fred Rogers while introducing a new generation of families and educators to the lessons of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.
Playful and practical, When You Wonder, You’re Learning shows parents, educators, and neighbors the many ways they might follow in Rogers’ footsteps, sharing his “tools for learning” with digital-age kids. With insights from thinkers, scientists, and teachers—many of whom worked with Rogers himself—the book explores how kids and their parents can excel at what Rogers taught best: being human.
The Patterson Foundation will support any book circle of at least six people who read the book and meet at least four times to investigate curiosity, belonging, and joy. (Click here to read about the available supports).
The time to join us is now! Click here to let us know you’d like to lead a book circle. Next, assemble your six members and come and meet one of the authors. The When You Wonder, You’re Learning Book Circle Project will kick off September 13th and 14th with a visit to the Suncoast by co-author Ryan Rydzewski. We have planned six events featuring Ryan, and we’d love you and your book circle participants to attend one.
Click here to register for one of the events on Wednesday, September 13, or Thursday, September 14.
We can’t wait to connect with you.
