THIS BOOK IS COOL! and these illustrations are AWESOME!

Let’s “read” by using the arts with Miss Freda, a teaching artist from the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Participants will learn how to read illustrations like artists by learning about the elements of art and will learn how to make illustrations come to life using drama. Families will create a very simple piece of art that is inspired by an illustration from a really COOL book.

For this event, every participant will need to bring something BLUE from around the house, like a cup, hat, or a stuffed animal. To complete our quick art activity, participants will need a sheet of white paper and some crayons, markers, or watercolors.

Join THIS BOOK IS COOL! host, Beth Duda, and Van Wezel Teaching Artist, Freda Williams, for an interactive family activity sponsored by the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading and The Patterson Foundation.
