The Suncoast Campaign for

Grade-Level Reading

The Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (SCGLR) is a four-county effort in Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee, and Sarasota counties in Florida

fostering wide community participation to achieve shared aspirations for the success of families and children.

We are proud to be part of the more than 390 Campaign for Grade-Level Reading communities in 44 states across the nation and in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Canada.
The Patterson Foundation is the regional accelerator with county specific work led by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, United Way Suncoast, and United Way of Charlotte County.

What’s New

Become a Suncoast Remake Learning Days Host

Returning April 24 through May 8, 2027, Suncoast Remake Learning Days—a 15-day regional festival—connects families across Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee, and Sarasota counties with free, hands-on learning experiences. Presented by the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading and underwritten by The Patterson Foundation, the festival invites new and returning hosts to help make learning visible, accessible, and joyful for children from birth through high school and the adults in their lives.
