Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (SCGLR). This multifaceted campaign will include many events and activities in Manatee and Sarasota counties throughout time as we join together to move the needle on third-grade reading proficiency. Our success would not be possible without volunteers serving with hands and heart.

Bring your energy and your enthusiasm to Manatee Technical College on April 2nd as we prepare materials for Manatee County Title I schools’ Kindergarten Readiness bags. Shifts will run from 3:30pm-6:00pm and 6:00pm-9:00pm. Community service hours are available for youth.
Why is everyone talking about the Kindergarten Readiness Bags? It’s because they are stuffed with summer learning and school readiness; two of five pillars the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading and Campaign for Grade-Level Reading focus on to close the gap in #GLReading.
Research tells us that academic achievement increases when parents are engaged in their children’s education. The Kindergarten Readiness bags include many great tools parents and children can share together. By using the resources provided in the bags, parents can create fun learning experiences for their children to help prepare them for school.
Each brightly colored tote bag will contain magnetic letters, jumbo crayons, flashcards, books, drawing pads, erasable alphabet charts, and a pamphlet entitled, Kindergarten Readiness: Practical Skills Every Child Need As They Enter Kindergarten.
Your time is appreciated and valuable in assisting with the mission of helping all children read on grade level.
